‘I wanted to completely refurbish and rebrand the shop; everything from the equipment to even the name of the shop,’ Fabian explained. ‘The shop was called Trecenydd Fish Bar but I wanted it to be called something unique so I chose Fish Factory.’An integral part of the refit was replacing the 29 year old fryer and Fabian took the opportunity to try a Dutch range: ‘I saw an advert for Florigo and went on their website so saw all the different styles I could have. I was really impressed by the Sales Team and now that the range is in, I’m really pleased: it’s fantastic!’Fabian chose a 4 pan HE island range with a 40cm griddle and he’s noticed a real difference with the product: ‘we had a good name before but the product is perfect now, really consistent: the product is cleaner and crisper. The filtration is fantastic, really easy to use, whereas it was a struggle before.’Another strong feature to the refit was Fabian’s eye catching multi-coloured ‘bubble’ counter: ‘I wanted a water feature and thought that it would have more impact if it was incorporated into the counter. There are only a handful of companies that do it in the UK and they normally only do features like this in high class restaurants. In fact as far as I know, we’re the only takeaway in the UK with a counter like this!’
