Fishing for UK's next top shop
The Fish & Chip Shop of the Year competition, now in it's 22nd successful year, recognises the shops producing the best fish and chips across the UK.
After several rounds of judging, including customer voting and mystery judge visits, the competition is whittled down to ten regional finalists. These top ten shops then face a final judging panel which arrives at the eventual winner.
Shops are judged on their sustainable sourcing practices, customer service, hygiene and staff training, and most importantly, the quality of their fish and chips.
Joining the competition is easy and the accolade of best fish and chip shop in the UK can have an enormous impact on business.
The campaign generates the equivalent of £2.3 million per year of advertising for the fish and chip industry for a fraction of the cost.
Previous winners have seen their sales increase by 40 per cent within months of winning the competition.
Fish and chip lovers help choose finalists by voting each summer from the hundreds of entries and the competition reaches its nail biting climax at a prestigious awards ceremony in London in January.
