Bollinis - Grand Designs on the market!
A new fish & chip shop set at the foot of the Ochill Hills, at Alva in Clackmannanshire, really is setting the proverbial heather on fire - with its looks as well as its volume in trade.
This is Bollini's a new shop that was formally a butchers that had been closed for 4 years 'It wasn't easy setting up' said Colin Machin ' in all it took two and a half years, three planning applications and we even had to buy the flats above the shop in order to get the ventilation correct!'.
What Colin has achieved is a smart new shop bang up to date with modern retailing. The exterior attracts attention with windows designed to entice customers in. the interior is a stylish combination of traditional wood and contemporary stainless steel - the whole shop makes a very strong statement about quality.
Quality was high on the list , when it came to the range, and it was a recommendation from a well known fryer that led Colin to Florigo, Bill Hatley (Hatleys of Alloa) 'I have a Florigo' says Bill 'and I don't think there is anything else on the market to touch it - both in build quality and technology, I had no hesitation in advising Colin that he should also invest in one'.
Robert Furey from Florigo was on hand to explain what Colin could have installed, after discussing the options carefully with Colin he designed a bespoke range to suit the shops requirements totally - High Efficiency Pans ( with basket frying for the chips), flotronic computer controls (to ensure the quality of the product remained the same no matter who was frying) and Mirror doors on the hotboxes.
John Reagan from Design Mach Limited was contracted to do all of the shop fitting 'Johns depth of knowledge, regarding the industry is vast', Colin said 'the service I received from Design Mach and Florigo has been excellent'.
The bright modern looks at Bollini's do not mean that tradition has been eschewed their menu features all that you would expect from a shop in the heart of Scotland, like pies, pudding and sausages but their best seller by far is a 'haddock supper!.
Colin has already reported excellent trading figures from a standing start 'We have taken our image very seriously, right down the branding on our boxes - like our windows themed as 'Alfred Bollini' a fictional Italian character ' said Colin ' since we have opened other businesses and houses have repainted their exteriors too - all good for the image of the town'. |
