Times have certainly changed since 1977 when a bag of chips cost under 20p and the Queen was about to celebrate her Silver Jubilee - that was also the year that Stuart & Lorraine McDonald bought the Fish & Chip Shop in Woolacombe, North Devon.

Woolacombe is a small village in North Devon that is an extremely busy tourist area with an Excellence Gold Award for best family resort 1999 and was voted the Best British Beach in the Mail On Sunday - October 2000. The shop itself is just a stones throw from the beach which has been voted one of Britain's best.

After a very busy summer season in 2005, Stuart realised that his range simply could not keep up with the increased demand at peak times, it was also not energy efficient and the range itself was not an easy machine to work on as technology had definitely moved on.

Lorraine & Stuart decided that the time was right to change the range, they looked at the available choice and opted for a Florigo, 'it was simply more advanced' said Stuart, 'then anything else we looked at, basket frying was the way forward for us as we could more accurately produce small portions often of perfectly cooked fresh Chips'.

Robert Furey was on hand from the beginning to offer help and advice to Stuart & Lorraine, as space at the shop was limited they opted for a 3 pan counter range with High Efficiency Fish & Basket Pans, Amber Touch Screen Controls, Halogen over the chip box, filtration and separate returns finished with a burgundy veneered front of counter which compliments the décor of the premises.

'I chose a Florigo because I thought they were better made than anything else' Stuart said, 'I also know other shops in the area that had Florigo installed and it was great to have a brand recommended by my peers - the Florigo ranges have more modern technology which will be a great help to me especially in the height of summer when demand is so great'.
